My Own Special JOY!

Happy World Card Making Day!  Are you stamping today?  I had planned to spend all day stamping, but here it is afternoon and I haven’t created a thing yet…we’ll see.  We have a Challenge up over on the SASI Blog and you have through tomorrow night to play.  One winner will be selected through a random draw to receive the Taylored Expressions Stamp Set of your choice, so definitley check it out!  It’s an easy one!  😉

I do have some cards to share with you today.  They are all from the new TE set Wings of Joy which was released this morning and now available for purchase.  I’m super excited about this set…it’s so darned cute!  And besides that I got to participate in it’s development.  One of my favorite aspects of my job working with TE is sometimes getting to help out with the development of stamp sets.  Usually I just give an opinion here or there on which possible images I like best or suggest some sentiments to add to images already developed.  With Wings of Joy, Taylor showed me very early on what she and Nancy were working on and I actually got to contribute two of the images.  I don’t draw very well AT ALL, but I sketched out the *JOY* image and the *winter birdhouse* and sent them to Taylor.  She liked them and sent them over to Nancy to make them *use-able*. Omigosh!  I can’t tell you how excited I was to see them in the final version of the set, but beyond that I was positively giddy when the set arrived and I actually had a rubber stamp in my hand that I had designed.  I kept showing it to Curt and then showing him my sketch and saying “Look! It’s almost just like what I drew!”  LOL!  I also contibuted the sentiment that was highlighted on my card yesterday.

Naturally, these were 2 of the very first images I wanted to work with when my TE sets arrived.  I started out with the concept of making a set of very simple cards with a lot of white space and here’s what I came up with. (I apologize for the picture quality.  I hadn’t had a chance to take pictures till this morning and Curt was on his way out the door to a car show and needed the camera so I had to take them in a hurry and the lighting just wasn’t good.)

I’m thinking I could make another set of these and have a nice set of 6 to put into a Perfect Package as a gift.  For each of these cards the image was stamped onto TE Choice Snow White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored with copics.  The red and green Prism cardstocks as well as the ribbon came from the TE Christmas Key Ingredients.

Here’s a closer view of the Joy card. I did some doodling around the edges and used KaiserCraft Lippy Red rhinestones in the corners.

Here’s the tree. Clear Rain Dots were perfect to put on top of the little ornaments – very cool effect in person!

And here is the clothesline.  Did you see what Taylor did with this image and the mini clothespins?  I know I have some of those somewhere and I need to dig them out!

Next I wanted to work with the birddhouse image and more of the elements from the Christmas KI.  birdhouse-christmas-jami-09-custom.jpg

I wanted a more vintage feel so I decided to use one of the brown Prism shades of cs from a previous KI as the card base and to tie in with the brown on the birdhouse.  There is Liquid Applique over the snowy areas.  The image was die cut with a Spellbinders Curvy Rectangle die and sponged with some Close to Cocoa ink.  I used an EK Success border punch along the bottom of the patterned paper.  The satin ribbon is from the Christmas KI.  I have to say that I am really tickled with how this card turned out and it’s really simple enough that I could make a whole batch of these fairly easily.

If you haven’t already gotten all the info on today’s release at Taylored Expressions, you’ll want to hop over to Taylor’s blog and get caught up!  Plus from there you’ll definitley want to hop around and see all the samples of Holiday Wonder on the Baker’s Dozen blogs!  Those girls just blow me away!  And don’t forget to play the TE WCMD Challenge to be entered to win.

I need to get stamping.  Hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks so much for stopping by!
