October Divine Design

October 8th, 2008

It’s the 8th and time for another Divine Design.  Please join us in this Challenge – you can read all the details by clicking here.  You can upload your creation any time during the month.

I’m starting a new Bible Study today with a small group of women from church.  The memory verse for this week is 2 Corinthians 5:17, so I had planned to use that for my DD journaling card today, but as I continued reading in the chapter I was struck by 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 and decided to use that instead.

20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21

We had an interview with two of the church Elders this past weekend as a step toward church membership and part of the conversation that struck me then and also was reiterated in Pastor Jeff’s Sunday sermon was what salvation really means.  Reconciliation to God through Jesus alone – that nothing I could  do could earn me that reconciliation, it’s only Jesus taking on my sin and dying on the cross to allow me to become righteous.  It’s certainly nothing new to me, but as much as I hate to admit it  I do sometimes take that incredible scarifice for granted in day to day life.   And then also that we are Ambassadors…to implore others to be reconciled as well…to accept the incredible free gift of salvation and reconciliation.

Card details – as always my journaling card is 5″ x 3 3/8″.  The base this time is white and I stamped Bella Toile background in celery ink.  The verse is printed on vellum and then layed over the white base.  Layered on top is celery cardstock with a frame cut and embossed with a rectangle nestability.  The celery frame is decorated with Chateu Bella rub-ons and a some Adorn-it pearls.

And now it’s time to pay a visit to the blogs of the other Scripture Chicks Lori Craig, Angel Wilde, Nancy Morgan, and Taylor VanBruggen.  You’ll also want to check out Denise’s fun post today on the SASI blog!

Thanks for stopping by.

Jami, I love all of your blog posts (even if I don’t comment on them all), but it’s your devine design ones, that are the best. Maybe because you always manage to find a scripture I need to hear. I don’t know how you do it, but you do. Thanks for another wonderful thought for the day.
