More is More

After finishing the Stamp Room portion of my clean sweep project at almost 9:00pm last night I just had to reward myself with a little stamping.  I came across so many stamps and sets when putting stuff away that I want to play with.  I decided to try a quick card with this previously un-inked Elzybells image along with some Summer Picnic designer paper from SU.  Of course it got late and Beaker was begging for Nite Nite (literally  – my Red Fronted Macaw  says *night night night* and if we don’t put them in their cages at that point he starts screaming), so I had to finish it up this morning.

I colored the image with Copic markers and added some kindergarten style leaves to the tree branch.  LOL!  I cut and embossed the image with a rectangle Nestabilties and then cut the mat with a scallop nesties.  I wanted to try something fun with the ribbon at the bottom so I got out some punches and started playing.  I ended up layering the two SU ovals and punching out a hole with the slot punch to bring the two ribbons through and tied a knot.  I used a white gel pen for the dots on her dress, the dots around the oval and the dashes around the red mat.  Embellishments are Adorn It Jewel droplets and K& Co. pearls both from eclectic Paperie.

It was 103 here today!    Whew that’s HOT!  The forcast was only for 89.  And the extended forcast for next Saturday (StampMania day) is 60.  That hardly seems possible, but I will welcome 60 or 65 if it’s true!  I’m just not a hot weather person.

I may have purchased a cute red purse today *wink*.  I’m definitley on a red kick – you should see my pretty toes!

Sorry I have no stamping to share today…I am however making great progress on StampMania preparations as well as my clean sweep project…and we made it to church today too.  Hope you had a great weekend.

It’s crunch time with StampMania just one week away.  I don’t imagine I’ll get much chance to stamp or blog in the next week, so don’t worry if I’m a little scarce.  Today I got one important step closer to being ready for the big event.  I got some new red Keds…aren’t they cute?

It occured to me today that I always buy new tennis shoes for StampMania – LOL!  Since I emcee the event I’m on my feet most of the day and I need comfy shoes…but they still have to be cute!  Each year we have a color scheme and Joy, Emily and I usually try to dress with the scheme.  Last year was Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip so I got pink Converse tennies.  This year it’s Real Red and White with accents of Bashful Blue….so I NEEDED red tennies!  I had a pair of red Van’s (are they everywhere or just a CA thing?) in high school and I was always in a good mood when I wore my red Van’s!  Let’s hope these Keds have the same effect!

I’m in the middle of� a huge Clean Sweep project throughout my house and one of the most daunting aspects has been sorting through boxes of stuff pulled out of my stamp room when the new cabinet came a few months back.� I’ve been crafting my whole life and I have lots of random craft *stuff*.� In the late ’80’s I was really into shirt painting.� Yesterday I came across my chart of paints.

It made me giggle because I have been saying all along that Stickles and Liquid Pearls are just shirt paints from the ’80’s with a new name.� In fact the Polymark brand of *liquid pearls* I have been using is on my paint chart from almost 20 years ago.� Everything old is new again.� *chuckle*� I also found some pretty hysterical pics of friends wearing shirts I had painted for them.� Not sure how they would feel about me posting some of them so I’ll hold off for now.

It’s time for this month’s Bible Verse Challenge.  We’d love to have you join us and you can read all the Challenge details here.

Our Pastor just finished teaching a series on the Upper Room Discourse in John 16.  When he taught on this verse, John 16:33, I knew I wanted to use it for my Challenge verse this month.  Jesus spoke plainly to his disciples (and to us) that without doubt there would be trouble and tribulation in this life, but with Him we can have peace through it all.  The illustration Pastor used was that of watching a basketball game on tape after having already heard the results that your team won after coming from behind.  You watch the game with a different perspective when you already know the outcome.  You’re not tense and bummed out that your team is behind – you know they win in the end. We can have peace and a different perspective on the trials of life knowing the outcome with Jesus.  How thankful I am for victory in Him!

Card details – as always the verse is printed on vellum and card size is 5 x 3.5 with a tab and ribbon at the top- the card is blank inside for journaling.  This is a very simple card – Celery base stamped with Stitched Background in Olive, then the vellum layer, then a layer of Bashful Blue.  The Blue was run through my CuttleBug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and then the scalloped rectangle was cut out using a Nestabilities Die.  Three punched circles with images from Little Flowers and some tiny blue crystals make for simple embellishments.

So I started to straighten up my stamp room a bit on Saturday (didn’t get very far) and  was throwing away little scraps around my paper cutter.  I saw all these strips of Summer Picnic designer paper left from cutting my class projects and thought “hey – I can make something with those!”  LOL!  This is why we crafters have so much trouble throwing stuff away!  I decided it was either make something right then or the scraps were going in the trash.

These strips were already cut exactly this size.  I just layed them out on a piece of black cardstock and adhered them down.  Seredipity 🙂  I used a Daisy D rub-on roller (got it at CHA) for the zig zag stitch at the bottom – cool, huh?  Then I went searching for what stamps to use.  I love this red wagon from the retired SU set The Wheel Thing.  I colored it with markers and combined it with the little flowers from Loads of Love.  The image was punched out with my Marvy Oval and layered onto Olive punched with a Marvy scallop Oval.  I know that Nestabilities are all the rage – and I do have the rectangles – but I still love my Marvy punches and reach for them often! The top was finished off with some wide red grosgrain ribbon and a Making Memories epoxy chipboard button.  A card just for fun.

I also had some little square scraps so I made this quick 3×3 card too.

The stamp is from SU’s Riveting and the ribbon is Bashful Blue Tafetta.  I used a clear glaze pen on the heart and a black glaze pen for the dots on the scallops.  (Glaze pens from www.eclecticpaperie.com)

Last night was my much anticipated class and I’m still recovering!  LOL!  It was really fun!  I had 14 people registered, but after a couple of cancellations ended up with 12.  That presented just a bit of a challenge with the space I have and with the particular project at hand, but I think I worked things out well and I hope everyone had a really good time.  Class did take longer than usual and I just hope I didn’t scare or stress out the wonderful newbies who were here.

Two or three years ago I made this little notecard set for a StampMania doorprize.

The idea for little cards in an Altoids tin came from another sample I saw on SCS.  Ever since I made that set I’ve wanted to do one in a class, so I was super excited to finally have my Tart & Tangy Tin Class last night.  Here’s the full set of what we made.

The standard size card is CASEd from the one Sharon Johnson made for my last swap (thanks Sharon!) and we also stamped a cherry on a standard envie to match (not shown in this photo). The tin is a Peppermint Altoids tin (comes with the red band around the top).  We made six mini cards (2 7/8″ x 1 7/8″) to fit inside the tin along with six envelopes made with an old SU envie template using plain copy paper and a couple of wheels (these could be left out).  The tin will then fit inside the gift box for a completed gift set.  The box is from tayloredexpressions.com – she has lots of cool favor boxes.

I love that thin Olive twill from the Ocassisons Mini Catty!  It’s soft and ties up really nicely.  We used the Bashul Blue striped grosgrain around the bottom portion of the outside of the tin.

The Summer Picnic Designer Paper is to die for! And I’m loving that Tart & Tangy set!   Those images are so easy to color with SU markers.  Before using the set I thought that might be a bit of a pain, but it’s really quick and easy to color, huff and stamp!  I had offered my class attendees a special on the set and two markers needed (Real Red and Old Olive) and several people took me up on it so we had at least 5 stamp sets on the table along with lots of markers which helped tremendously!

My logistics dilemma was planning a class for 14 people using 3 stations making a bunch of miniature stuff!  For the main table where they made the mini cards here is what I ended up doing.  I made a stamping chart so they could see how many total fruit images needed to be stamped out on a half sheet of Whisper White cardstock.  I also made a chart of the fruit pieces punched out and layered so they would know how many of each colored cardstock punch was needed and how to assemble them.  See the two thumbnails below and click on them if you want to see them full size.

In addition to that I scanned the six mini cards (see 3rd thumbnail above) and had 3 of the scans printed out and on the table for everyone to refer to as they put their cards together.  All of my customers LOVED this and found these charts super helpful, so that’s why I decided to share them here as well.
