A Dashing Challenge
Are you up for a Challenge? Well, here’s the deal - I’ve been working on samples for my upcoming *Dashing Christmas Class* which features Stampin’ Up! Dashing Designer Paper. So I’ve had Dashing scraps on my table for the past couple of weeks and I’ve been having so much fun making cards with them along with a very limited array of other supplies. So I’ve decided to issue my own little Limited Supply Challenge which harkens back to the very first LSC on Splitcoaststampers when I hosted a contest to come up with samples for a friend of mine who had purchased some stamping supplies. I wanted to show her there were lots of possibilities with the Limited Supplies she had on hand! It was such a fun contest and ended up becoming the regular Friday Challenge at SCS. Of course with so many people wanting to play the original idea of playing from a specific list just isn’t possible and Jen does a fabulous job coming up with ideas for the challenge.
Here’s my Challenge to you…you may use any of the following items to create a card…you do not have to use them all…select what you like…but the main rule is that you may NOT use anything not on the list! So here goes:
Stamp sets:
Holiday Tag Team
Perfect Presentation
Take Three
Merry & Bright
Big on Christmas
ETA: Since a number of people have said they don’t have any of these sets I am making a slight revision to this list. IF you do NOT have any of the sets listed above, you may play by choosing ONE IMAGE ONLY from any current Stampin’ Up! Christmas/Holiday set. Now COME PLAY!!!
Ink: Basic Black, Old Olive and Real Red Classic pads and markers (yep - that’s IT!)
Cardstock/Paper: River Rock, Old Olive, Real Red, Vanilla, Dashing DP
Tools and Embellishments: ribbon (any kind), punches (any kind), mat pack & piercer, any adhesives of your choice - that’s it…nothing else! If it’s not listed, you can’t use it!
I have six samples made (can you believe it???) and I will share three of them with you tonight. The first two are CASEs of other cards I have made recently.
It just doesn’t get much simpler than this first one! And although I’m not typically a simple girl when it comes to stamping, I really like this. The wide grosgrain ribbon is perfect for this layout!
The next card is another one to add to the Chain of Inspiration described in this post. I like this one so much I think I might make 10 or 20 up as one batch of our Christmas cards this year (I need 80-100 total and I generally work in batches of 20).
And this third one is for Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #24. I cannot believe this is the first time I’m playing her challenge. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew it would work wonderfully in this series of cards I was creating.
I don’t need to list recipes because everything I used is listed above in the Challenge list. So anybody wanna play? I’ll tell you what - for extra added incentive I’ll hold a drawing for everyone who plays (according to the rules of course) and I’ll send the winner a little prize. Here’s all you have to do:
- Create a card using only supplies listed above
- Post your card to your blog and/or your SCS gallery with full recipe and a link to this challenge so others can play along too.
- Come back here and post a link to your card in the comments section of this blog post (be sure to include what your entry # is in your comment)
- If you post to your SCS gallery please use Keyword JDC1007 (for Jami’s Dashing Challenge October 07) with no spaces.
Deadline to post a comment to be entered in the drawing is Tuesday October 30th at midnight Pacific time. If you have any questions please post a comment and I’ll edit this post to answer anything. I’ll draw sometime on Halloween.
So c’mon - come PLAY!!! :) I’ll have more samples to share with you tomorrow, so be sure to check back.
On a serious note: HUGS and prayers for everyone effected by all the fires in SoCal. We are very fortunate to be about 45 minutes or more from the closest fire and yet my eyes have burned all day and our cars are covered in muck. I can only imagine what it is like for those so much closer and for so many who have had to evacuate! Prayers also for those amazing firefighters!

Awwwww, Jami! Is that why I’m not reeling in the new customers this fall? Of all my Christmas sets … I do not own a single set on your list! Accck! I might have to “wing it” with a different holiday set …. just to keep busy. Sure wish our SoCal friends were out of danger tonight! Thanks for the challenge!
(((hugs))))
Tex
What a great challenge! Wishing I had some of that Dashing dp! I’ll have to see what I can come up with!
Beautiful cards
I am glad that you are safe and praying for all of you SoCalers.
LOVE your samples and I will try to get to your challenge. Looks like fun.
I love them all! I may have to CASE one for our Christmas cards
Wish I had one of these sets as well. I would certainly play. But, I really love the cards you have made here!! Cute, cute!
Jami, those cards are awesome!
I should have known you were the originator of the limited supply challenge. LOL
Make sure you notify me of your next swap and send me the entire rule book. LOL
Just messing with you! Big cyber hug! I am still giddy I met you!
Big grin
Jami, love the samples and the challenge. I will definitely get something going as I have some of the stamps and the paper. I am just horrified watching the news all day yesterday and now today on the fires in our beautiful state. This truly does affect us all here in So Cal. Thanks for the challenge!
These are fabulous! I wish I had one of those sets so I could play along! Maybe it’s time for a new order? Thanks for sharing - I enjoy the LSCs each week

#35 (or #31?!)
This is my favorite of the 4 I did. I *love* paper piecing these little guys! I stamped the deer and then remembered I couldn’t use brown…so I thought this particular piece of Dashing DP would work…and I think it did…spots and all!
Thanks for this WONDERFUL challenge, Jami!
