A Gaggle of Chefs
September 1st, 2007
So what do you call a whole bunch of chefs? A passle, a gang, a herd? Whatever you call them, I’ve been playing with the Chef from Voila all day! (Thanks Leann for loaning me the set. 🙂 )
My friend Darla has just become a Pampered Chef Consultant and all the chef craziness started when I volunteered to help her with a couple of party flyers/invites. She sent me a flyer partially started with a border of blue, sage and lavendar. I started by watercoloring a chef to match that border. I scanned and shrunk him and put him on the flyer just like I did with our BBQ invites awhile back. Then I had this nice fat chef so I made him into a “Good Luck on your new venture” card.
It’s pretty self-explanatory I think – I just added some brads, doodling and Crystal Effects to the silver tray. Cardstock used: Almost Amethyst, Navy, Sage, Watercolor paper. This was actually the 4th card I finished in my stamping frenzy last night.
Today I decided to make Darla a little gift set of Chef thank you cards to send to her hostesses. I just stamped the chef with various food/accessories on Fabriano note cards and watercolored them with various color combos using my watercolor crayons. I decided to try paper piecing on the last one which is always fun. I used River Rock based sheets from both Dashing dp (pants) and Apple Cider dp (jacket) and finished it off by cutting his kerchief and cuff from red cardstock.
Those little Fabriano notecards are so fun to work with! The size of these are 3 3/8″x 5 1/8″, so they are slightly smaller than a standard quarter sheet sized card. Once the set was all done I needed a way to package and present the four cards and envelopes. I came up with this portfolio and I am oh so proud of myself!
The portfolio starts with a piece of River Rock cardstock cut 7.5″ x 10″. The front is very simply decorated with a piece of Apple Cider dp and a belly band and scallop circle. The initials “PC” are of course for Pampered Chef. I was so excited about this super simple little portfolio that I decided to make a template for it for future use and to share with you. Click here: fabriano-portfolio-by-jami.pdf to get the pdf. Over the last year or so I have made several sets of notecards with these cute little Fabriano’s and I’m excited now to have a nice simple way to package them as a gift. 🙂
Now I just need to slip this set into a cello bag with a ribbon and it is ready to take to Darla at church tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Dang it, Jami, these are all so cute you make me want to get this chef! Should I resist this impulse or go with it, I wonder? A friend of mine also just became a Pampered Chef consultant and this would be so fun for her. Plus, I’ve always loved this guy and all the stuff for his tray. You did a fabulous job on every one of these! I especially love that red tile floor and, oh yum! — look at that delicious fruit pie!

She must have LOVED receiving these, Jami! This must be sweet treasures IRL on the Fabriano cards! Every one of these seems to be a little ‘pampered’ piece of art!

A clad of chefs, I think? 😉
Or, a clan of chefs? A bunch (like grapes?)? I have no idea!!!
But, this collection of awesome cards will be a huge hit, I’m sure. What a great gift!
Tfs~
