Christmas in July

July 26th, 2007

I’ve got to get to work, but wanted to share a card I made that combined two of the challenges today in Dare to Get Dirty – Beate’s sketch and Jen’s (genie1314) clearly fun challenge.   I got this adorable penguin set from My Favorite Things a while back and hadn’t had a chance to make anything with it yet.  Aren’t they so cute?  The little oval under them came with the set too.  Black part of the penguins was colored with a Sakura black glaze pen and I re-drew the dots for their eyes with a white gel pen.

Card base is River Rock and 5″ square – stamped with stars from Paper Trey Text Box set in River Rock and the SU Whimsy jumbo wheel in Wasabi.  Sentiment is from Imagninations (I’ve had it for years.).  The color scheme came from the Basic Grey Fruitcake paper.  Retired Cranberry Crisp is used for the accent color.  The cross stitches are rub-ons from Doodlebug.

Curt took the whole week off for vacation, but I wasn’t that smart *D’oh* so I need to get going.  Thanks for stopping by!

It’s great to see some of these stamps ‘in color’! I’ve looked at the set online several times, but now it really has come to life. I love how you did the background too. Great card!
