NEW STUFF!!!

June 6th, 2007

One of the most fun things about being a Stampin’ Up! Demo is being able to pre-order stuff.  My pre-order arrived today…I kept it pretty small, waiting to se the whole new catalog soon.  *grin*

I got the sentiment set Hugs & Wishes, the Level 2 Hostess set Garden Silhouettes (herafter to be known as “GS” because I am not going to run to get the box to see the spelling every time I want to type it!), Square rhinestone brads (Fire asst.), assorted 2008 In-Color cardstock, Classic Ink Pads in Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate.  Tomorrow my Baroque Motifs will be delivered.  I ordered it for FREE through the Consistency Counts program for SU Demos!

My order arrived a little after 11:00 am and I tore into to to see the new colors in person.  I was going to take color comparison photos, but didn’t get a chance.  Friends Sharon Harnist and Jeanne Streiff both have great photos of that on their blogs if you haven’t seen them.  You can get there by clicking on their names in my blog roll to the left.  As much as I wanted to play with my new toys there just wasn’t time all day – until this evening.  I had things I needed to get done around the house and errands to run and I wanted them finished before Curt got home from a business trip.  He was coming early because he’s not feeling well and I thought it would be nice if he came home to a clean stress-free (as much as possible) house.  I know he wouldn’t have cared if I stamped all day, but I just felt it was one of those times to put my marriage before my stamping (I heard that audible gasp from some of you!  *wink*).  Today was a character-building day.

So after dinner it was off to my stamp room.  To be honest, I was tired and not really even in the mood to stamp, but I was detemined to get at least a couple of quick cards done.  While waiting for my order to arrive I had an idea to use GS with my brand new Tsuinko Glue Pad and some Art Institute Glitter.  I had pictured black glitter, but when I checked my stash it turned out I don’t own black.  I settled on a beautiful chocolate brown glitter and decided it would look wonderful with the new Guava.

Of course it’s very difficult to get a photo of glitter!  The main image was stamped in the glue pad and then the chocolate glitter was applied.  A mat was cut from Chocolate Chip cardstock and a border was laid down with sticky strip around the edge and the glitter was applied there as well. It doesn’t get much more simple than this!  I think it’s elegant though.

I have to be honest and say that I don’t care for Guava all that much.  I have always despised the color peach and this is VERY peachy!  I’m sure it will look nice in some color combos I haven’t yet thought of, but I doubt this will ever be a favorite for me.

Pomegranate on the other hand…beyond yummy!  A slightly darker, more purplish Rose Red…almost a true cranberry…it’s heavenly!

Here’s another very quick card using Pomegranate and River Rock (which is quite green really!) cardstock with Pomegranate and Wasabi ink.  The River Rock panel was stamped with Fine Lace background inked in Wasabi and stamped off first.  Everything was highlighted with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter using a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen for the adhesive.  I just happened to have just the right grosgrain on my ribbon rack.  If you need some of this ribbon you might want to hop on over to Taylor’s blog and beg her to sell some *wink*.  I know she can get it and I think she’s had it in the past. It also coordinates well with Rose Red.  Faux stitching was done with my Garden Green marker after piercing the holes with the SU mat pack.

As I said I wasn’t really *feelin’ it* when I made these.  I’m hoping to have time to devote a good portion of Friday to stamping and hoping I have major mojo then!  I have been on call all week for jury duty and so far have not had to report.  I have to call again tomorrow night about Friday.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  I really think one character-building day this week is enough!  LOL!

I’m off to watch the Top Chef All-Stars competition.  Have you figured out that I’m a sucker for reality shows?

ROTFLMAO, Jami . . . indeed, a character-building day you had! 😉 Love the glitter card — great use for the glue pad (that I still haven’t used yet) and beautiful pomegranate quick card. Can’t wait to see what you do with Baroque. Thanks for the laugh at 2am!
